How the QUBTRIX blocks were born.

The story of QUBTRIX begins in the picturesque village of Chomranice in southern Poland.
In 2019, Daniel Pociecha, the grandson of a carpenter and father of five, designed and crafted the first models of these blocks from wood. He wanted to give his children an eco-friendly, safe and fun toy that combined tradition with modernity.

Why did he choose wood?
As he himself likes to say, ‘It’s because wood has a soul. You can feel it when you touch a wooden object. The smell and texture of cut gopher wood soothes the senses, taking you back to your childhood when you used to play with wooden blocks.

The value of wooden toys crafted in a family-owned carpentry workshop lies in their unique features. Every block is one-of-a-kind, with a different texture and colour. Such toys are natural, durable and aesthetic. They are truly a fount of creativity enclosed in a wooden form.’

Why did Daniel decide to combine the wooden QUBTRIX blocks with popular plastic bricks?
‘My children liked to play with Lego. They were everywhere around the house. I thought that it’d be worthwhile combining the two systems, so that children could develop their creativity by coming up with incredible structures made of both wood and plastic, while playing with their blocks.’

Daniel started by drawing up his ideas for the blocks – until one day, in the family-owned workshop, he crafted a toy with a unique connector system that would allow children to build hybrid structures made from wooden and plastic bricks. This is how the innovative QUBTRIX blocks, compatible with the blocks from other manufacturers, were born.

Daniel hit the jackpot with QUBTRIX. Children of all ages are fascinated by the ability to build using completely different types of blocks, while parents will appreciate the toy’s natural, aesthetic and versatile design: children can build with QUBTRIX blocks, as well as combining them with the popular plastic bricks that are abundant in almost all homes.

In 2020, two more enthusiasts of combining traditional, simple solutions with modern technology joined the project: Maciej Nowosielski and Michał Kwiatkowski. The rising interest in QUBTRIX blocks from parents and children, and a growing need for financial support required to develop the technology, led to the creation of the WooBrick brand.

What do the creators of WooBrick expect from their blocks?
In their own words, they hope that ‘children and adults alike will have as much fun playing with our blocks as we had designing and crafting them in our workshop in the village of Chomranice.’

How QUBTRIX blocks are made

QUBTRIX blocks are made by a team of enthusiasts in traditional solutions and new technologies. We design blocks, pins and bushes, and craft them out of beech wood in a small workshop.

Our core priorities are to bring safety and joy to children through our natural, aesthetic and creative toys. That’s why we take care to ensure that each part of every block is of the highest quality across all our manufacturing stages. QUBTRIX blocks do not contain any chemical additives in the form of varnishes or other coating substances.

Before the QUBTRIX blocks reach the hands of children, they undergo a series of manufacturing stages, from seasoning the beech wood, through lumber cutting, milling, drilling and mounting the bushes, to the final quality assessment. Our special connector system has been submitted for patent protection.

We are proud to offer the modern evolution of a classic, wooden toy that combines tradition with innovative technological solutions. Young constructors are now able to build freely, while developing their creativity, logical thinking and spatial imagination.

All of this has been inspired by our love for children, nature and a life full of passion.
